What are some highlights of your career at Law Staff?

Working as a legal recruiter is a rewarding job based on long-lasting relationships – we share in the job satisfaction of finding a candidate their dream position. We build up our own individual reputations as consultants with the backing of Law Staff. This set-up is crucial as the business has significantly expanded and continues to develop as a market leader in legal recruitment. Teamwork and collaboration are prime drivers in our success, enabling us to cultivate positive results for clients and candidates.

What attracted you to work at Law Staff when you joined back in 2016?

I joined the business from a background in sales at a time when Law Staff benefited from its well-established presence in the legal recruitment market. This gave me great confidence in working alongside established recruiters and the strategic plans for further expansion were equally impressive. It’s now three years since I joined - we are in a new, expansive office, staff retention is high and we continue to focus daily on serving our clients and candidates.

Can you pinpoint a driver that has been integral to the success of the business?

I love being part of a team where we all use our collective skills and energy to drive the business forward. We have grown exponentially since I started working at Law Staff and I think our emphasis on client and candidate relationships is a key driver in the business’ success. We match the needs of our clients with the right candidate for the right position. Approximately 80% of our vacancies are from repeat business – we value relationships and always work hard to maintain as well as grow our network of legal professionals. We listen to the client’s needs and ensure we only introduce candidates who are strongly suited to the position, giving the vacancy the best chance of being successfully filled.

What motivates you at work?

In brief, job satisfaction combined with financial results motivate me at work. The environment I work in at Law Staff is ideal. We are assisted in getting targeted results for clients and candidates with financial incentives and bonuses, but overall, I am spurred on by the satisfaction of matching people to new teams where they can expect to progress.

Is there someone or something that inspires you in your daily life?

I have two young children who really inspire me. It is so rewarding to help them learn and develop. Seeing their progress in their early years from sitting up, to standing, to walking is incredible and really motivates me to ensure we give them the best foundation we can.

How do you spend your time outside work?

As well as looking after my children, I enjoy playing and watching sport whilst keeping active generally. I love spending lots of quality time with my family and I benefit from a good work/life balance.

How do you see the world of recruitment progressing in ten years?

We are seeing the importance of online networking growing – adding your profile to LinkedIn and engaging there with other professionals is more rewarding than ever. I think online job boards will still be key in advertising new jobs, but LinkedIn in particular will develop further in facilitating introductions, marketing new jobs and acting as an industry news platform. However, we must ultimately continue to get the basics right: picking up the phone, speaking to candidates and clients, listening to their aims and objectives. This is a key focus at Law Staff which enables us to use nearly two decades of experience as a legal recruiter to match clients with candidates. Overall, candidates will move for one or more of three reasons: remuneration, location and job satisfaction. So, we ensure our communications regarding each vacancy address these three factors and we only reach out to candidates who have the proven experience and capability to fit the role.
