Consultant Update: Simon
New Club Coach Set the Task of Making the Dragons Roar.
This season will see Simon Shorter take over the reins as head coach for Bourne Deeping Hockey club.
Simon brings with him a wealth of national league experience, playing for Brooklands HC in Manchester for 7 years, which included winning the old national league 2 title. Since leaving Brooklands he captained local rivals City of Peterborough to promotion out of East Prem A and for a further 3 years in National Conference East.
Whilst taking Peterborough Town into National League he also found time to help out his boyhood club, St Ives and coached their men’s 1s from East Div. 2 to the heights of East Prem B, and in 2 years at Bedford he has coached them to Prem A finishes of 5th in 2016, and 4th in 2017.
Over Simon’s playing career he's been coached by International Hockey players, Olympic medal winners and Australian sports personalities & he'll be bringing all this experience into his new role at Bourne Deeping HC. This season will be an exciting one at Bourne Deeping, with Simon hoping that the club can challenge for promotion at all levels.
Simons other primary focus will be to oversee the club training programme supporting other coaches to develop a clear pathway for junior members to progress in to senior hockey.
Chairman Pete Moisey is delighted to welcome Simon to Bourne Deeping HC and believes his wealth of experience will enable the club to provide challenging yet rewarding training throughout for all levels whilst providing a pathway to develop talented players to achieve their potential and deliver promotion success.
